All the King's Men

By Robert Penn Warren
Directed by Ken Richard
March 2-18, 2018

Ken Richard directs Robert Penn Warren’s All the King's Men, March 2-18. Discovering that he is being used by a cynical machine, Governor Willie Stark adopts methods that allow him to control the state. By resorting to corrupt methods, he accomplishes things for the people that were only abstract ideals when he was campaigning honestly. As a portrait of politics, this is effective and provocative.

Robert Penn Warren’s version of the widely known work, which, as a novel, was the recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, had a highly successful Off-Broadway run during the 1959 season.

A great turn out for Playmakers Reader’s theatre launch. The reading of “Ladies in Waiting” was executed fantastically by the wonderful cast! We hope you’ll join us for our next event!

The February performance at the Southern Hotel had to be cancelled as the artist had a personal conflict.

The next scheduled performance will be on March 25th, at the Art Association in Covington.

Auditions for The Graduate

A Play Adapted by Terry Johnson
Based on the Novel by Charles Webb
And the Motion Picture Screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry
By Special Arrangement with StudioCanal

Director: Justin Lapeyrouse
Assistant Director: Lisa Keiffer

Benjamin Braddock is a confused young man. Graduating college with a brilliant scholastic record, he finds himself adrift, uncertain about his future and increasingly alienated from the upper-class, suburban, “plastic” world of his parents. Fighting panic and boredom, he is deeply conflicted but ultimately willing when Mrs. Robinson, the unhappily married, alcoholic, and dangerously charismatic wife of his father’s business partner, tempts him into an affair. It falls apart when he falls in love—with Elaine, Mrs. Robinson’s upbeat, optimistic daughter.
Set against the shiny backdrop of affluent Southern California in the 1960s, this bitterly hilarious dark comedy is full of rapid fire dialogue amid an exploration of family dysfunction and the disillusions and dichotomy of youth.

Show Dates: May 4-20, 2018 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 2 pm.
Auditions: February 24 and 25 from 6-9 pm.
Auditions will consist of a cold read at the audition. We ask that everyone be familiar with the script for the play and what characters they are auditioning for.
Character Breakdowns:
