Children's Theater at Playmakers

"To please a child is a sweet and lovely thing that warms one's heart and brings its own reward."

Frank Levy Playmakers
2010 Summer Theater Camps

Limited enrollment!

Here is the latest theater news about our 3 wonderful summer camps for ages 5-16 (we can also take age 4, in some circumstances)

YEP, IT'S CAMP PLANNING TIME

TIme to plan for Happy Summer 2010!
-EVERY ACTOR HAS LINES
-EVERY ACTOR DANCES
-EVERY ACTOR CHOOSES THEIR OWN PART
-EVERY ACTOR IN TELEVISED PERFORMANCE

Summer is knocking and Theater Camp registration for summer 2010 has begun. Our wonderful choreographer Caree will be back with us doing those awesome, challenging dances. Again this year we will have more than twenty teenaged counselors who themselves grew up in the camp.

***=QUICK NOTE***
School ending and beginning schedules are REALLY different this year from school to school.
SO...

The "June" Camp will begin on May 24, the first Monday after public schools close, BUT if your child ends school later, JUST NOTE ON THE FORM WHEN THAT CHILD WILL BE ABLE TO BEGIN CAMP and we will take care of it, which includes sending you all of the camp materials, cast choice list AND the script.

The August camp also comes right up against some schools starting, SO, as has been our tradition, we can have the dress rehearsal for that show on THURSDAY, August 5, IF THIS YEAR SCHOOL STARTS ON THE 6th (that information will be sent out by the school board in March), Thus IF THAT HAPPENS, children who need to go to school on friday the 6th can do so. However there will be camp on Friday for those who wish to attend. THEN the shows will go on as planned Friday night and the rest of the weekend, including OF COURSE the cast party after the Sunday matinee.
NOTE: None of this will be a concern and show goes on as normal if school starts after camp ends.

Now for your regular information--
As always, we will have our June and August camps.
and
We will also have the ONE-WEEK full show camp in JULY at the greater covington center. We have not been able to have performance-producing camps at Playmakers in july because of the great Playmakers summer musicals, which take all of July (this year that musical is Cats, directed by Randy and Lynn Perkins. Their show is already being cast and I highly recommend that you get there to see it during mid and late july.

The Summer Theater Program will have a one-week, full production show camp right in downtown Covington during the run of the musical at Playmakers! That show will have our full staff and will be in the NEWLY, FANTASTICALLY REBUILT, OPULENT FUHRMANN AUDITORIUM which has a professional theater setup now (including a first-class backstage area) and is wonderful!

meanwhile....
BELOW is the basic information you will need to get registered for any or all of the 3 camps, followed by an easy print and mail form at the end of the email:
(of course our website, http://www.storiesinmotion.com has lots more information and pictures
as well as the SAME FORM as below on THIS page: http://www.storiesinmotion.com/contact.html)

---JULY--- 1 WEEK CAMP Aladdin at Greater Covington Center

from 10 am to 2:30 pm on weekdays; with two televised performances that weekend on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
This camp goes really fast, with casting done by end of first day. Works especially well, but not exclusively, for children who have done a show before.

AUGUST---2 WEEK CAMP Robin Hood (lots of parts for merry men and merry women) at PLAYMAKERS

**Robin Hood ($250), ages 5-16, last 2 weeks before school starts, July 26 - August 8, from 10 am to 2:30 pm on weekdays; with televised performances the last weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

••••• AGAIN--PLEASE NOTE: The St. Tammany Public Schools MAY start on Friday, August 6 this year (Wow, huh? WE ARE NOT SURE YET AS THAT SCHEDULE COMES OUT IN TWO MONTHS). This does not affect the camp WHATEVER THE DATE IS since dress rehearsal for ROBIN HOOD can be on Thursday, August 5 if necessary. Kids who start school on that Friday can go to school then return to the theater that night and over the weekend for their performances as usual. For those who DO NOT go to school on August 6, camp will be held as usual.

here's this year's quick camp form for you--

see you SOON!
